When Do Pearl River Schools Close, Reopen for Holidays 2016?

PEARL RIVER, NY — It's just the way the calendar falls in 2016. Christmas Eve is on a Saturday; Hanukkah is on a Sunday; New Year's Day is on a Sunday.

And that's why the Pearl River school district's holiday vacation is only six school days long. The last day of school is Dec. 23. Then Jan. 2 is the national holiday, and there you are, the end! School resumes Jan. 3, 2017.

Then it's a cold six weeks till the next vacation: Presidents' Day Recess: Feb. 20 - 21.
