2015 Hendrick Hudson Film Festival Set for May 8th

Young filmmakers from Tri-State and beyond will be there

Hendrick Hudson High School will be hosting its 13th Annual Film Festival on May 8th at 6:30 p.m.

In 2014, under the direction of the Film Club Advisor Paul LaVallee, the dynamic of the festival changed to reflect a new theme: “Evening at the Oscars.” With more than 250 submissions from 30 different schools in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area, the festival brought in its largest audience to date with 275 attendees, mostly young filmmakers.

Regarded as the premiere high school film festival, the evening will again showcase the filmmaking talents of students throughout the Tri-State area, as well as some submissions from across the country. Having already received 200 submissions from over 35 schools this year, the festival will screen films in the following categories: Music, Video, Animation, Documentary, Drama, PSA and Comedy. Each film will be competing for individual awards and cash scholarships as well as the coveted grand prize, “Best Overall Film.”

Festival Organizer LaVallee noted, “Film Club President Troy Peterson has done a fabulous job facilitating our weekly meetings and getting everyone ready for this tremendous event. We really set the bar high after last year’s amazing resurgence at the festival, which highlighted the talents of many young filmmakers both near and far including Hen Hud’s own Lilah Schneeberger, who won first place in the Comedy category. This year’s festival will not disappoint; it will make for another exciting evening!”

The night will begin with a Red Carpet event in front of the high school. Student filmmakers will be arriving via limos provided by Settembre Limousines and will walk the Red Carpet, experiencing the glamour of the Academy Awards.

Admission is $5. T-shirts, popcorn, drinks and candy will be available for purchase. Please come out and support the arts in your community. If you need additional information or have any questions, please contact Paul LaVallee (paul.lavallee@henhudschools.org) or (914) 257-5813.
