28th Annual Yorktown Community Day Celebrates Yorktown Community With A Special Salute For Dr. Ralph Napolitano
Enjoy a free afternoon of attractions, exhibits, and entertainment for the entire family
YOUnited Inc. in conjunction with Alliance For Safe Kids, Jefferson Valley Mall, and the Town of Yorktown, will be hosting the 28th Annual Yorktown Community Day on Saturday, June 17 from 11 am – 4 pm at the Jefferson Valley Mall located at 650 Lee Boulevard in Yorktown Heights, NY. Celebrate all of what the Yorktown community has to offer with a free afternoon of attractions, exhibits, and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.
“This day is about celebrating Yorktown and sharing how everyone works together to make our community the place we love to call HOME,” said Tricy Cushner, YOUnited Board of Trustees member. “For the past few months, a small group of thoughtful mentors have worked directly with over fifty of our youngest professionals ages 18-25 to organize an event unlike anything that has happened in prior years. Many of our Nonprofit Organizations and Businesses have partnered with each other along with an endless list of talented entertainment, activities and food trucks to appeal to community members of all ages.”
This year as part of Community Day, there will be a special farewell ceremony for outgoing superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano, who will be retiring after 11 years of serving the Yorktown School District. During his tenure as superintendent, the Yorktown School District has become one of the top districts, being named in 2015 a State School District of Character, a recognition that focuses on character development programs along with a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school behavior and their communities. Last year the district was selected as one of only four in the country to receive the National School District of Character. Show your appreciation and send your well wishes to Dr. Napolitano as he begins a new chapter in his life.

It has been an honor and a joy to serve the children and parents of Yorktown Central School District”, said Dr. Napolitano, outgoing Superintendent of the Yorktown School District. “Eleven years ago when I was hired to be Superintendent here, I promised the Board and Community that I would love and take care of their children. I have never reneged on that promise. It has been easy to love the staff, students and families of YCSD. I will remember Yorktown for the rest of my life. It has been a home and sanctuary to me on the many long days and weekends that I was away from my own home and family. I wish everyone in Yorktown continued peace, love and success in the days ahead.”
Throughout the Jefferson Valley Mall, there will be interactive exhibits featuring talented artists, authors, nonprofit groups, businesses and entertainment that will impress each onlooker. The Alliance for Safe Kids will be hosting a fashion show with the latest trends by local student designers who have partnered with retailers at the Jefferson Valley Mall that include Charming Charlie, Francesca’s, Princess By Tali/BLUSH, Forever 21, Torrid, and more! Continue to enjoy the entertainment on the indoor stage which will feature NY Dance Faktory, Sam Levin, Epic Dance Center, Spotlight Dance Studio, From A Distance, and the Kelly-Oster School of Irish Dance.
