3 Arrests After Home Invasion In Cortlandt

Police said the weapons involved included a knife and a baseball bat.

CORTLANDT, NY — A reported home invasion May 15 on Lexington Avenue resulted Wednesday in three arrests. New York State police said the incident involved a confrontation, and a stabbing.

One person sustained non-life-threatening stab wounds, they said.

Police said three people were involved in the confrontation with weapons, including a knife and baseball bat. An Ossining man was accused of burglary, a Cortlandt man was accused of wielding a baseball bat and an 18-year-old whom police did not identify was accused of the stabbing.

On May 22, 2019, three arrests were made:

  • An 18-year-old was arrested for Assault in the 2nd degree with intent to cause injury with a knife, a class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.
  • Bernardo Orozco, age 42, of Cortlandt, was arrested for Attempted Assault in the 2nd degree with a baseball bat, a class D felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.
  • Shakeal T. Tyler, age 27, of Ossining, NY, was arrested for Burglary in the 2nd degree, a class C felony.

All three people were arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court. The 18-year-old was remanded to Westchester County in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or secured bond. Orozco was remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail, and Tyler was remanded in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or secure bond.
