Accused Burglar Accused Of Smashing Police Station Door
Jonathan Martin of Peekskill faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.

PEEKSKILL, NY โ Called to a home on Seymour Lane at 2:25 a.m. Friday, Peekskill police said they found Peekskill resident Jonathan Martin in the living room. He was a stranger to the residents.
The investigating officers alleged that Martin, 27, forced entry to the house and made his way to the bedroom of a teenager. He asked her for money. She got out of the room and called 911, police said.
Martin was arrested on scene and charged with Burglary 2nd degree, a C class violent felony. During Martinโs arrest processing, police said they discovered a coin purse and its contents in his possession. The purse was later identified as the property of a separate victim of theft from the victim's vehicle.

The theft had been perpetrated earlier the same night from the 600 block of Highland Avenue, police said.
Martin was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree, a misdemeanor .

Later that afternoon, Martin was arraigned in Peekskill City Court on the burglary charge and was released without bail. Burglary 2nd degree is one of the few violent felonies for which bail cannot be set under New York's new reforms.
At 6:30 p.m. Martin was released from police custody. A few minutes after he left the police lobby, officers witnessed the plate glass entry door to the station house shatter.
Martin was seen fleeing south on Nelson Avenue. Two officers caught up with him and he was again arrested. This time he was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief, one an E felony, the other an A Misdemeanor.
Martin was arraigned on his new charges and sent to Westchester County Jail.
