Arrest in Cortlandt Train Station Robbery

Police allege a Peekskill man hurt someone while stealing a cell phone.

Bernard J. Ervin, 26, of Peekskill, New York, faces charges of Robbery 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony.

At about 3 p.m. Feb. 28, state troopers were dispatched to the Cortlandt Train Station to investigate a possible robbery.

As part of their investigation they concluded that Ervin forcibly stole someone’s iPhone. Police also allege that while committing the robbery, Ervin hurt someone who was with the victim of the robbery. The victims were both transported to Hudson Valley Hospital for an evaluation.

Ervin was apprehended moments later as officers saw him in the parking area of the train station attempting to leave.

The criminal mischief charge is for damaging the cell phone, police said.

Ervin was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is due to return to the Town of Cortlandt Court at a later date and time.
