Assemblywoman Galef Highlights the Electoral College and National Popular Vote with Upcoming Panel Discussion

Does your vote count? National Popular Vote and the Electoral College

On Thursday, January 12th at the Croton Free Library New York State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will host a panel discussion regarding the National Popular Vote and the Electoral College.

The speakers include Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz, who sponsored the National Popular Vote Bill in New York State, Hendrick Hertzberg, Political Analyst for The New Yorker and Board Member of Fairvote.org, and Dr. Jeanne Zaino, Professor of Political Science and International Studies at Iona College.

“There have been five instances in which the Popular Vote and the Electoral College were not in alignment, and two instances of this in the past 20 years,” said Galef. “Many of my constituents are interested in how this process works and what other options might be available. I have heard from constituents on this topic for many years, and hope that many of them join me for a conversation about how we elect our leaders.”
