Bravo Star JD Lawrence to Bring New Thought Provoking Play to Paramount Stage May 26th

New York Times Acclaimed playwright and Bravo star JD Lawrence, newly transplanted to the Hudson Valley, is on a mission to educate , entertain and inspire. Lawrence the creator, executive producer, and star of Bravo’s Your Husband Is Cheating On Us), brings to the Paramount a new play Harriet , Rosa and Me that brings historical figures into the present to help guide the next generation.
Harriet , Rosa and Me explores the story of Hope a student who shuns the idea of being taught Black History in schools as irrelevant and a waste of time. Hope’s story opens at a bus stop playing hooky from school. Hope encounters the legendary Rosa Park who gently prods and provokes Hope to get on the “bus” and go to school and learn. Hope unconvinced by the gentle Rosa Parks needs a stronger lesson which playwright JD Lawrence provides. Hope encounters Harriet Tubman who gives Hope the ultimate reality check.
Critics have called Lawrence “the best-kept secret in theatre” to “undoubtedly the future of urban theatre”. Lawrence is thrilled to being presented this play as part of the Paramount Hudson Valley Arts programming. “We want to make theater accessible to everyone while teaching valuable lessons,” said Lawrence." I am thrilled to bring my work into my new community in the Hudson Valley. Be ready to be edu-tained” Harriet , Rosa and Me is a family affair with Lawrence tapping into the talents of his wife and daughters.
