Common Council Awarded Pension Credits To Volunteer Firefighters In City Of Peekskill

The City of Peekskill Common Council reviewed and awarded annual pension credits to 37 volunteer firefighters at their meeting held on Monday, June 21st. The annual pension credits are awarded to firefighters who earned 50 or more points in three or more categories of volunteer activity during the previous year, ranging from fire call response, attending training and meetings, and serving in a leadership role. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Peekskill agreed to award an additional 18 “COVID Points” to volunteers serving in official capacities as permitted under the NYS emergency declaration.
