3rd Time's the Collar: Cops Arrest Suspected Supermarket Robber

The arrest took place after a third incident.

CORTLANDT, NY — At 11:56 p.m. Tuesday, State Police in Cortlandt received a 911 call from the Shop Rite at 2094 East Main Street in Cortlandt, reporting that a robbery had just occurred.

Responding Troopers and BCI members interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance tapes before quickly determining that it was the same suspect in two previous grocery store robberies currently being investigated by the City of Peekskill Police Department.

With the assistance of Peekskill Police, the suspect was located at the Watergate Motel, 81 Furnace Dock Road, Cortlandt and taken into custody without incident.

He is identified as Calvin Diggs, 50, of Peekskill, NY. Diggs was charged with one count of Robbery 3rd Degree, arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50.000 cash bail/$50,000 bond.

Peekskill Police additionally charged Diggs with Robbery 3rd Degree. His arraignment in their jurisdiction is pending.
