Cortlandt Man Faces Menacing Charges in Domestic Dispute

The victim's 8-year-old was present, police said.

New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Earnest M. Trotter, of Cortlandt, New York, for Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Menacing in the 3rd Degree, both Misdemeanors.

Troopers were dispatched Feb. 3 to investigate a domestic disturbance that occurred at a Cortlandt residence. Police allege that Trotter had menaced a woman, making her fearful for her safety, and damaged her vehicle. The dispute occurred in the presence of the victim’s 8-year-old child.

The 30-year-old had fled the area prior to police arriving at the scene.

Trotter was arrested Feb. 4 and arraigned on February 5. He was sent to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Cortlandt Court on Feb. 12.
