Cortlandt Mom Charged after Child Wanders BJ's Parking Lot: Yorktown Cops

Police arrested the woman Feb. 11.

Brenda Guererro of Peter Beet Drive in Cortlandt Manor faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

She was arrested Feb. 11 by Yorktown police who had been investigating a report from BJ’s Wholesale Club staffers from Jan. 30.

They said a child had been left in a car; had gotten out; and was wandering around the area. The store is on Route 202. By the time police arrived, the child, adult and car were gone.

Yorktown police identified Guererro, 31, as the adult in question and the mother of the boy.

She was arraigned and released and is due in Yorktown town court March 10.
