In The Picture

Patricia Stefanski, English contemporary artist, painter, photographer and draughtsman. Stefanski’s draughtsmanship is most influenced by the artist Dennis Creffield, under whom she studied in Britain.

This exhibition of portraits includes past and present work. The recent series of pencil portraits are inspired by Stefanski’s love of the innocent beauty of children in conjunction with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

For Stefanski, art is her way of capturing a moment of beauty long after it has passed so that it can be enjoyed at leisure by the audience. Her work makes no political, social or economic statement.

Like many artists past and present, Stefanski finds people fascinating and therefore a constant source of inspiration. Stefanski is most powerfully motivated to artistic endeavor by the beauty she sees in a human face, but while portraits comprise the greater part of her artistic body of work, she is often moved to paint the abstract beauty she sees all around her in the landscape of West Sussex.
