The ancient craft of painting on silk is extremely meditative-- ask any fiber artist who uses this medium. This month Side Effects will be featuring new works of wearable art by owner/artist Patty Villanova, who paints for the label " The Joy of Painting." Her hand-painted silk scarves are sold at shops and galleries throughout the US and there is an extensive collection right here in Peekskill at the shop and at the Flat Iron Gallery. Most of the new work is abstract and done on silk chiffon, velvet, crepe de chine and other silk fabrics.
