A Honda driven east on Route 202 at 11:50 p.m. by 19-year-old Tzvi Hakakian, 19, of Monsey apparently slowed down, possibly to turn left into a driveway. The Lexus behind it, driven by Jonathan Mosquera, 24, of Suffern, apparently tried to go around it on the left. They sideswiped each other, and the Lexus veered across the road and hit the two teens standing near the edge of the driveway.
Tawil, from Argentina, and Maldanado, from Mexico, were students at Yeshivat Tiferet Torah in Suffern, according to JP Updates. Maldanado is in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center. The Jewish news website said police sources told them Mosquera may have been traveling at a very high speed.
