Fundraising for Heat: Peekskill Sisters' Social Media Efforts Showing Success
The Franciscan Monastery Sisters of the Sacred Heart are almost halfway to their goal.
PEEKSKILL, NY — The Franciscan Monastery Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Peekskill are continuing their social media success raising money for heat this winter.
There are 24 nuns in a convent that once held 400. The 150 year-old convent has four dead boilers and a chapel that needs major heating repairs. The sisters need $350,000 to replace and repair everything. They sent out a mailing and set up a donation page on YouCaring.com.
As of midday Monday, Heat for the Sisters has raised $104,342 from 2,063 donors. And the page has been shared on Facebook 3,600 times.

As Sister Laura Morgan said Saturday,
THANK YOU doesn't quite say what we are experiencing as we witness the care, concern, and generosity of so, so many people. I am overwhelmed by the responses from all of you; grateful for your financial help and deeply moved by the loving messages you have sent to us. Your sacrifices have assured us that "the heat is on the way" and I am putting worry aside and replacing it with great hope. I thank God for touching your hearts and I know that all of this publicity is His plan...I never would have started this on my own! May each of you be blessed abundantly - you are all in our daily prayers. Thanks and God bless you! Sr. Laura and the Sisters
