Guide to Peekskill-Cortlandt Fireworks and Fourth of July Celebrations

The skies will light up in honor of Independence Day with festivities taking place this week and next.

Summer is finally here and our nation's birthday is being honored around the nation and in our towns.  Check out the list below for fireworks and fun close to home.

Concert and Fireworks at Peekskill’s Riverfront Green Park

When/Where:  Wednesday, July 4, 7 p.m. concert, 9:30 p.m. fireworks, at  (Hudson Avenue and Route 9, Peekskill), The Peekskill Fire Department parade begins at 10 a.m. It starts at the Intersection of Washington Street and Sherman Avenue, proceeds north on Washington Street to South Street, east on South Street to Division Street, south on Division Street to First Street, west on First Street to Union Ave, south on Union Ave to main entrance of Depew Park.

Details: Blues and funk band Black Dirt will play a concert before the fireworks are set off. Produced by the City of Peekskill Fire Department.

There will also be live entertainment from 1-5:30p.m. at the Riverfront Green courtesy of . The House Band will be playing from 4-5:30p.m. and The Dirty Stay Outs will perform from 1-3 p.m. There will also be food vendors set up throughout the course of the day for the public to enjoy.

Verplanck Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Italian Festival 

When/Where: Sunday, July 15, 10:45 p.m. Festival runs July 6 to 11 p.m. July 11-15, 238 8th Street, Verplanck

Details: Food, rides, games, live entertainment and fireworks. Check here for discount ride bracelets on Wed and Thurs. 
Special Italian Mass at 11:30am at St.Patrick’s Church on 11th Street, with procession through the streets to follow immediately afterwards

Entergy Fireworks Extravaganza at

When/Where: Aug. 3-4, Peekskill Riverfront, Fireworks on Aug. 4 at dusk

Details: The Entergy Fireworks Extravaganza is the largest fireworks display north of the Macy's annual Fourth of July display and is one of the signature activities that makes Celebration unique in the Hudson Valley. The pyrotechnic display is synced with music provided by WHUD 100.7 Radio. Whether from land or on water, the fireworks are an amazing sight to behold.

 

White Plains High School Independence Day Celebration

When/Where:  Thursday, June 28, from 6-10p.m.at , 500 North St., White Plains

Details:  A fun filled evening of entertainment, giant inflatable rides, food and fireworks.

Somers Celebration

When/Where: Saturday June 30, 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m., a full day of events at Reis Park

Details:  Day includes the 4rd Annual Lynn Adams Memorial 5k run & 1 mile walk & talk-a-thon, opening ceremonies, famous Lions barbeque, annual Taste of Somers, Wright Reis Homestead Tours, SYSO all-star games, children’s & family games, waterslide, entertainment and music.

Town of Lewisboro Fireworks Spectacular

When/Where: Saturday, June 30, entertainment begins 7 p.m. at , Fields 3, 4 and 5

Details:  It is a family night of entertainment and fireworks with Annie and the Natural Wonder Band and Detour at 8 p.m.  At dusk the fireworks begin.  Picknicking, blankets, chairs are welcome, and food and drinks will be sold.

Price: $20 per car and designated parking begins at 5 p.m.

 

Great American Concert and Picnic in Garrison

When/Where:  Monday, July 2, 5 p.m. at Boscobel House and Gardens, 1601 Route 9D, Garrison

Details: Celebrate the U.S.A.  Pack your picnic, blankets and chairs and get into the patriotic spirit on Boscobel's great lawn overlooking the West Point Military Academy and the Hudson River, one of America’s most historic and inspirational vistas. Start your celebrations early with a picnic and outdoor concert overlooking the Hudson River. Enjoy patriotic tunes with family

Fanfare and Fireworks at Kensico Dam Plaza Music Fest

When/Where:  Tuesday, July 3, pre-concert entertainment begins at 6 p.m. and The Bensen-Scott Big Band takes the stage at 8 p.m.; fireworks will follow at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the in Valhalla.

Details:  Commemorate our country’s Independence Day, with rousing American patriotic music followed by a spectacular fireworks display, presented by Westchester County Parks.

Price:  Admission and parking are free. Carpooling is suggested. Concert-goers should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

 

Louis Engel Waterfront Park Fireworks—Ossining

When/Where: Tuesday, July 3, beginning at 7:30p.m. at , Secor Road & Westerly Road, Ossining

Details: Bring the whole family for a night of entertainment and fireworks

Price:  Free

 

Independence Day Fair at John Jay Homestead

When/Where: Wednesday, July 4, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at

Details: Join Friends of John Jay Homestead and the Rotary Club of Bedford-Armonk for a celebration of America's founding at the Independence Day Fair. Bring your family for the reading of the Declaration of Independence and sign a copy. Family fun includes sheep herding, bee keeping and blacksmith demonstrations, crafts, hayrides, games, live music, log cutting and plenty of food from the grill. Enter a pie for the apple pie contest!

Price: Admission to grounds and Reading are free; food, house tours and some special activities are available by ticket purchase. 

 

Fireworks at Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex

When/Where: Tuesday, July 3, fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. at 311 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale

When/Where: Wednesday, July 4, at 8:00 PM in the Venetian Theater at

Details:  Michael Barrett leads the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in the music of George Gershwin. Some of his greatest works, the Rhapsody in Blue, performed by John Musto, and hit songs sung by Darius DeHaas and Carla Jablonski will complete the patriotic preparations for the pyrotechnic fireworks to follow.

Price:  Tickets are $30, $40, $50, $60, and $70. Children under 16 are half price.
