Handmade Origami Crane Ornaments Are Gifts To Peekskill Community

Make sure you get to the library and pick your own.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Two Christmas trees at the Field Library in Peekskill are blooming with colorful tokens of appreciation that are gifts to everyone in the community.

Clients at Jan Peek House and friends of Caring for the Hungry and Homeless have hand-folded hundreds of origami “Caring Cranes” ornaments that decorate trees in the adult and children’s sections at the library.

“Our residents are using their hands and their hearts to give back to a community whose support has meant so much to helping them regain housing, self-sufficiency and dignity,” said Cynthia Knox, CEO of CHHOP. “In addition to being a work of art, the cranes are truly a symbol of caring and peace.”
