Project Lead the Way Biomed students excel in first statewide outing
Hendrick Hudson High School Project Lead the Way Biomed teacher Jeanine Hall recently announced some exciting results from the New York state competition sponsored by HOSA: Future Health Professionals (formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America)
“Congratulations to the following students who participated in the New York State HOSA competition and qualified for the National Conference June 24-27, 2015 in Anaheim, California,” Mrs. Hall noted. “Scott Glaser placed 3rd in Dental Terminology; Olivia Young placed 3rd in Pharmacology; and Megan Cruikshank, Deepa Mistry, Peter Manthey, and Brandon Renda qualified for the Health Care Issues Exam.”
Hendrick Hudson’s participation with Project Lead the Way began five years ago, and it was the first PLTW school to participate in the N.Y. State HOSA competition. “To have so many students qualify for Nationals our first time competing really says something about the caliber of our students! I couldn’t be more proud,” Mrs. Hall said.

The Anaheim conference will feature exciting general sessions; educational and social learning activities; leadership academies; tours to healthcare facilities; exhibits presented by professional healthcare associations; a National Competitive Events program; workshops presented by professional partners that provide Information about current health care issues; and opportunities to meet people from across the United States and Puerto Rico with similar career goals. It is not clear how many of the Hen Hud students will be able to attend, but it is an honor to have achieved this opportunity.
