FRIDAY, OCT. 6

Families and kids ages 8 and older can hear stories around the campfire and cook some s’mores.

SATURDAY, OCT. 7

Hike Muscoot’s Outback – 7 a.m. – 9 a.m.

Meet at the reception center and enjoy an intermediate hike through the back roads of the farm. For ages 8 and older.

Lenoir Preserve, Dudley Street, Yonkers – (914) 968-5851

The Big Sit -- 10 a.m. – noon

Bring binoculars and a chair and tally as many bird species as possible from one position on the lawn.

Volunteer Work Corps Day – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Bring work gloves and help out with invasive vine removal, trail maintenance, beach clean-up and more.

Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River – (914) 864-7322

Fall Foliage Hike – 1 p.m.

A hike to enjoy the foliage at some of the most scenic locations in the reservation. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

SATURDAY - SUNDAY, OCT. 7 - 8

Pumpkin Picking Weekend – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Enjoy a hayride, pick a pumpkin from the farm patch, play games, and glitter your pumpkin. Fee for pumpkin and hayride.

Works by a local artist on view weekends in the Main House Gallery.

SATURDAY - MONDAY, OCT. 7 - 9

Fall Festival and Holiday Train Show – 11 a.m. –4 p.m.

Storybooks and fairy tales come to life at this annual event offered on weekends during October. Admission fee and dates at LasdonPark.org.

SUNDAY, OCT. 8

Farmers Market – 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Shop more than 20 unique vendors offering fresh produce, cheese and a variety of local items.

Learn all about these contentious plants, then use them to make a craft.

Opening Reception for the Annual Photography Exhibit – 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Opening of exhibit displaying photographs that were taken at the conservancy. On view weekends through November. Co-sponsored by the Friends of Marshlands Conservancy.
