House Fire on Division Street Displaces 4 Families
Assumption Church opened its doors as a reception center as firefighters fought the blaze
An evening fire in Peekskill left four families homeless, Red Cross officials have confirmed.
It took Peekskill firefighters about four hours to extinguish the blaze at 209 South Division St. Their biggest task was keeping the fire from spreading to any of the adjacent buildings, fire officials told Fios1 News.
Red Cross volunteers operated a canteen to support the firefighters and began working with the four familiesβnine adults and seven childrenβwho were displaced.

Assumption Church opened its doors for a reception center to help the families, Red Cross officials said.
Also provided were Stephanie Crispinelli kits, named after the Katonah 19-year-old who died in the Haiti earthquake while on a humanitarian mission. The kits are lovingly handmade by Red Cross Volunteers and the students of Primrose Elementary School in Somers.
