HVHC began exploring the connection after Bronxville-based Lawrence Hospital joined New York-Presbyterianโ€™s growing hospital system. Lawrence had been an affiliate member since 2005. It became NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence in 2014.

Hospital partnerships are happening all over the region as community hospitals make connections with large, regional medical centers.

Montefiore Health System, based at the Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, took over bankrupt Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle in 2013, and began to establish a partnership with White Plains Hospital in early 2014.

Putnam Hospital joined the HealthQuest system, which also includes Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
