Indian Point Security Drill Tuesday Evening
Members of the public may hear what appears to be gunfire from simulated weapons systems used during the exercises.

CORTLANDT, NY — Security officers will be participating in scheduled training drills at the Indian Point Energy Center during the evenings of April 24 and May 3. The training drills will involve simulated attack scenarios intended to be as realistic as possible.

Appropriate law enforcement agencies have been informed of the events, Indian Point officials said.

Security officers will be using Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) gear during the drills. These systems involve special laser weaponry, which duplicates the effects, including sound, of live ammunition. MILES gear is used for military and counter-terrorism training across the country.
