Legendary Latin Crossover Artist Tito Nieves Heats Things Up at the Paramount Hudson Valley This Summer!

“Tito Nieves’ is unique among salsa musicians, boasting success in the world of Latin music where he is known affectionately as “El Pavarotti de la Salsa,” with a sound that has carried over into English-language successwith the popular hit songs “I Like It Like That” and “I’ll Always Love You.” Fans will hear those smash hits and more from Tito Nieves’ remarkable career when he performs at the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater at the end of August.

Paramount CEO Kurt G. Born in Puerto Rico but raised in the U.S., Tito Nieves began his career while participating in Cimarron, an orchestra based right here in New York. (He attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, where he played in a Spanish-language band named Makondo). After Cimarron, he then teamed up with Héctor Lavoe in 1977 and joined Conjunto Clásico soon after. Among his key albums are 1988’s Classic, 1989’s Yo Quiero Cantar, 2004’s Fabricando Fantasias, and 2006’s Hoy, Manana y Siempre.

It’s no accident that the music of Tito Nieves appeals equally to both traditional salsa fans and pop music listeners. When he decided to start his solo career in 1986, Tito Nieves specifically set himself apart by singing salsa in English. His gamble paid off when the singles “I Like It Like That” and “I’ll Always Love You ”topped the charts in 1997.

In the world of Latin music, Nieves is known for hits such as “El Amor Más Bonito,” “Sonámbulo” and from the album Fabricando Fantasia, “Fabricando Fantasias” and “Ya No Queda Nada” with La India, Nicky Jam, and K-Mil. Since 1988, Tito Nieves has rarely been off one of the Latin Music charts, most recently hitting the Tropical/Salsa list with the single “Gracias Madrecita” in 2014 and gaining the #7 spot on the Latin Tropical Albums chart as part of the Salsa Legends collection just this year.
