The reader is taken back to the 1940’s and 50’s, a time when war clutches the earth and civil rights are nonexistent, and follows the trials of two young girls, each with their own eccentricities that they must learn to cope with.
Robertson uses a unique writing style that entices her audience with realistic descriptions, intense imaging and a way with words that pull at the psyche of the reader and makes them question their understanding of the paranormal and the world around them.

A resident of Peekskill, New York, Robertson grew up with dreams of being a writer and dance teacher. From an outside perspective, her childhood takes on that of any traditional child growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. However, a deeper look into her past shows that she has had a very interesting set of life experiences that have shaped her into the author she is today.
I would suggest this novel as a good read for young adults with an affinity toward the unknown world of the dead, who are willing to relate to the tribulations of social and personal acceptance.
