Missing Cortlandt Man Found Dead: State Police

Joseph Sharpe had been missing since late January.

CORTLANDT, NY — The body of Joseph Sharpe, who has been missing since late January, was found Monday in a wooded area off of Lexington Avenue.

“On Feb. 27, at approximately 3:48 p.m., Troopers responded to Lexington Avenue in Mohegan Lake to investigate the report of a deceased subject located in a field,” state police said Tuesday. “Subsequent to further investigation, Troopers were able to identify Mr. Sharpe as the deceased. At this time, Sharpe’s death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.”

Sharpe, 59, had gone missing after last being seen in Mohegan Park in Cortlandt on Jan. 26. He was raised in Peekskill. Searchers had hoped he was in a homeless shelter.
