Westchester County, NY - (June 5, 2017) – NewYork-Presbyterian announced a series of community events available to the public for the month of June. From a lunch and learn about urologic care to an educational men’s health panel, there are several events offered throughout NewYork-Presbyterian’s campuses in Westchester. All offerings are free unless otherwise noted.

Farmers Market
Tuesdays, June 6 and 20, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
The sixth season of NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital's Farmers Market is underway. Local vendors will offer fresh fruits, fresh meats, eggs, produce, spices and herbs, vegetables, artisan baked goods, local grass-fed beef, flowers, and selected crafts and gifts, among other items. EBT/ SNAP customers are welcome and some farmers accept FMNP checks.

Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class
Tuesday, June 6, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
The Breastfeed with Certainty Prenatal Class provides an opportunity for pregnant women and their partner or support person to learn about breastfeeding. The group is facilitated by Sonia Mathisson, IBCLC, MS, RD. Topics include: latching and positioning, benefits of skin-to-skin, how to make sure baby is getting enough milk, partner’s role and community resources.

Springtime Supper
Wednesday, June 7, 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga, and is translated as “the knowledge of life.” Learn about the founding principles of Ayurveda and how to use them to prepare a few dishes. We will use spices like cumin, coriander, fennel, turmeric, and more, integrating them into our dishes for a meal reflective of the culture of India.

Diabetes Support Group
Wednesday, June 7, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Facilitated by Jodie Ferrari, MS, RD, CDN, Clinical Nutrition Manager, these meetings provide education on reducing risks and prevention of diabetes as well as the importance of monitoring blood sugar levels. Healthy lifestyle behaviors including nutrition, healthy cooking and exercise also are emphasized. The meetings provide an opportunity for personal in-depth education along with group support and collaboration.
