Nicholas Merando earns his Eagle Scout Rank

On July 20, 2016, Nicholas Robert Merando, aged 16 of Cortlandt Manor, earned the rank of Eagle at his board of review. Nicholas has been a scout since joining Cub Pack 45 in 2006. He stuck with scouts and moved up to Troop 45 of Van Cortlandtville in 2011. Nicholas moved up the ranks finally earning his Eagle Award. As a project, Nicholas improved the Jacob's Hill Trail in the Town of Cortlandt. He defined a clear 1/8th of a mile path that the residents of Jacob's Hill and the Town of Cortlandt may utilize. Nicholas searched the woods for perfectly sized downed trees to outline the path, cut back brush and fill in the path with donated woodchips. Nicholas received the honor at his Eagle Court of Honor on October 2, 2016 at Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant.
