NYS Awards Peekskill CSD $150K Grant for Family and Community Engagement Program
The Family and Community Engagement Program aims to increase academic achievement, college/career readiness and stakeholder participation.
On March 16, 2017, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) awarded more than $6 million in grants to 42 school districts for the My Brother's Keeper Family and Community Engagement Program. Of these funds, the Peekskill City School District is excited to receive $150,000.
The purpose of the Family and Community Engagement Program is to increase the academic achievement and college and career readiness of boys and young men of color, and to develop and sustain effective relationships with families toward the goal of success for all students.
"We are very excited to have been a recipient of this grant as it aligns to our work as a community of learners," said Peekskill Superintendent Dr. David Fine. "This was a collaborative effort and I am proud of all of our stakeholders involved in this process. We are looking forward to the ways in which these funds will help enhance our District."
