Paws For Love, Inc. Needs Help

Animal Shelter Paws for Love, Inc. is in need of their friends more than ever.

If Paws for Love ever needed friends this is the time. Recently the Village of Buchanan, Mayor Knickerbocker along with her Trustees R. Funchion, D. Jackson, C. Pasquale, and N. Zachary encouraged by some very angry and poisonous neighbors are trying to shut down one our most important foster homes and limit the number of cats a house can have. This home sits on an acre and a half of property, surrounded on three sides by a lake. It is big enough to accommodate being a foster home.

The work we do depends on our foster parents. Since we are not a brick and mortar shelter our foster homes are not just necessary but they are invaluable. It is in the foster homes where cats and kittens get real life experiences of what it is to be part of a family. In these foster homes those that have been hurt heal, those that have been lost are found and those that have never known love find it. Foster homes are much better than brick and mortar shelters since they provide a real home setting for the animals. We at Paws for Love do not understand why the Village of Buchanan hates the animals so much that they would try to shutter our main foster home that is responsible for getting the cats and kittens spayed/neutered and adopted to their forever family. Since January 1st 2016 we have been able to rescue and place over 150 cats and kittens into loving homes. Over the last 17 years we have placed over 2000 cats and kittens into families. If the law that they are trying to pass goes into effect it could affect every rescue group in the area. What is most frustrating is that it is these same people who are trying to shut down this foster home that come running to us when there is a “cat” problem. You see, for every cat or kitten we take into a foster home and find them a loving forever family, there are dozens of cats that will continue to be on the streets, suffer, reproduce and die. Shutting down this home is not only unfair and cruel but it truly makes no sense if you love animals and want to help them. We need to make sure that our message is heard! Cats will suffer if this law is passed. We need your help, you can write a letter to the Mayor and any one or all of the Trustees at Village Hall 236 Tate Avenue, Buchanan, NY 10511, you can come to the “workshop meeting Nov. 22nd at 7:30pm, Village Hall. We hope to stop this at that point, if not there will be a public meeting for you to come to Dec. 6th also 7:30pm at Village Hall. Calling all animal lovers to express your opinion and your disappointment at the Village also bring friends to the meetings the more support she gets the better! Follow the update on our facebook page Pawsforlove,Inc.
