Peekskill Apartment Fire Quickly Controlled

Plus Peekskill firefighters responded to an alarm at Hudson Valley Hospital Center that proved to be a different kind of smoke condition.

PEEKSKILL, NY β€” Firefighters in Peekskill, both professional and volunteer, were called out Monday afternoon to two incidents. The first was an automatic alarm at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Peekskill volunteer firefighters responded along with the Lake Mohegan Fire Department.

Turned out a visitor was vaping in one of the rooms.

About 15 minutes later, an apartment fire was reported on Bleloch Avenue. Firefighters (some recalled who were off-duty) brought the second-floor fire under control in about half an hour. Mutual aid, including stand-by, was provided by Montrose VAFD, the Buchanan Fire Department, the Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department and the Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department.
