Peekskill Schools Calendar 2015-16

The new school year begins in 16 days. Here are dates you need to know.

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Peekskill City School District.

First day of school: Sept. 3

Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 7

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Professional Learning Academy (early release day): Oct. 9

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Superintendent Conference Day (no students): Nov. 3

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 25-27

Professional Learning Academy (early release day): Dec. 11

Holiday recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 3 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Professional Learning Academy (early release day): Jan. 29

Presidents Day/Winter recess (school closed): Feb. 15-19

Holiday recess: March 21-25

New York State testing: April 5-20

Superintendent’s Conference Day (no school): April 22

Professional Learning Academy (early release day): May 20

Memorial Day (school closed): May 30

Professional Learning Academy (early release day): June 10

Professional Learning Academy (early release days): June 22, 23

Last day of school (early release day): June 24

NOTE: If NO snow days are used, school will be closed 5/27 & 5/31.

If 1 snow day is used, school will be closed 5/27 (5/31 school is in session).

If 2 snow days are used, the calendar stands as shown (5/27 & 5/31 school in session).

Note: If more than 6 snow days are used, weather make-up days to be taken in the following order: 3/21, 3/22 & 3/23
