Photo Gallery: Peekskill Day Camp Parade

The children of the Peekskill Day Camp and Creative Arts Camp marched in a parade last Friday to mark the end of summer camp.

Family and neighbors cheered as the children of Peekskill Day Camp and Creative Arts Camp took to the streets in costumes in a parade themed "The Games People Play".

This parade marked the end of a summer camp filled with arts, crafts, games and group outings. Their trips this year included a tour of the Peekskill Museum, a day kayaking on the Hudson, a trip to the Bronx Zoo and a tour of Peekskill on the new trolley aptly named Stella.

Mike DeBenedictis, assistant director of the Day Camp, says that the camp brings together children from all over the city and teaches them the importance of community. Children ranging in ages from 3 to 12 have participated in this summer camp for over 40 years, and the city even awards scholarships to ensure that all children can take part in this Peekskill mainstay.

This year's parade included a choreographed dance to Beyonce's fitness anthem, "Move Your Body", and over 200 participating children, along with a crowd of onlookers, did just that.
