Planetree Award for Laura Gomez

HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Controller Laura Gomez from the HRHCare Peekskill administrative offices has been awarded the July 2017 HRHCare Planetree Spirit Award for Excellence in Patient Care. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to exemplary employees who work to make health care more personalized, and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.

An HRHCare employee for over six years, Laura Gomez brings an infectious joy and passion to her role as Controller in the Finance Department. She is well known in the HRHCare Peekskill administrative offices for her dedication to the organization’s mission, commenting often on how everyone’s role helps to make patient care possible. Additionally, Laura is known for her constant willingness to help her colleagues when needed, and always doing so with a smile.

“Care for our patients is carried out in the health centers, but without people like Laura Gomez who take pride in ensuring HRHCare’s future and advancing our mission every single day, none of that would be possible,” said Daniel Kauffman, Financial Analysis and Business Planning Manager at HRHCare, “No one is more deserving of an award for having a spirit that embodies everything that Planetree and HRHCare stand for.”

When asked about her hopes for the future of health care, Laura replied, “I am hopeful people will come together to find solutions that will help everyone. If society becomes more spiritual and mindful, the focus comes away from the self and looks toward the community. I hope we will realize that everyone is entitled to health care!”

In addition to her work at HRHCare, Laura spends time as a Freedom from Smoking Facilitator with the American Lung Association – sharing her journey of quitting smoking to help others end addiction and start enjoying life to the fullest.
