Police Seek Public's Help IDing Woman in Check-Cashing Scam

CORTLANDT, NY — The New York State Police are attempting to identify a woman regarding a fraudulent check complaint which occurred at the CitiBank in the Cortlandt Town Center — and they seek the public's help.
Troopers were dispatched to CitiBank for a fraud complaint on Sept. 2. The victim stated that on June 18, 2016 at about 3:04 p.m., a woman believed to be in her early 40s asked him to cash a check for her. The victim deposited the check into his account and withdrew roughly $800 in cash to give the woman at her request.
The victim discovered that the New York City-based business check was fraudulent when his account became overdrawn.

The woman is described as being about 6’ tall, with straight shoulder length hair. She may have been driving a green sedan. Anyone with information regarding her identity is asked to contact the State Police BCI in Cortlandt by calling (914) 788-8044 and refer to Case No. 7112132.
