Public Clamoring to Buy Latest, 'Cheaper' Tesla
The new model costs half as much as the car manufacturer's luxury line. Where can you charge up in Peekskill and Cortlandt?

A new model electric car, released Thursday, has people in the Hudson Valley standing in line.
The Tesla dealership in Mount Kisco reportedly had over 200 people lined up to buy the new Model 3 car, according to the Journal News.

Elon Musk, Tesla Motors chief executive, debuted the new model Thursday, the Washington Post reported.
It is priced at $35,000, which is less than half the cost of Tesla’s other luxury models.

Besides standing in line at dealerships, people who want one are going to have to wait until late 2017 for delivery, the Post said.
The vehicle’s specs, listed on the company’s website, say the car will go 215 miles per charge, will go from zero to 60 mph in under 6 seconds, has seating for five adults and has autopilot safety features.
The website also has a button where you can reserve the new Model 3 for $1,000.
There is also a Tesla dealership in the Westchester mall in White Plains.
Do you need an incentive to reserve one of the new Teslas?
Purchasers could qualify for a federal tax credit of $7,500 if you purchase a Tesla, according to an article in the Washington Post.
There are caveats, of course, and the ability to get the tax credit will be phased out once the car manufacturer sells its 200,000th electric car in the United States.

So now you have an electric car. Where do you plug it in?
If you have a private home, an outlet can be installed, but once you are out in the real world, you can use an app such as PlugShare, which also has a website.
In White Plains, there are a total of 20 electric vehicle charging stations, 10 of which are in the White Plains TransCenter Garage. The others are in public parking garages.
