Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Food Pantry Helpers Needed

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Food Pantry Volunteers
The Interfaith Emergency Food Pantry of Pleasantville is seeking volunteers to assist with bagging groceries and distributing these bags to clients. During the morning shift, volunteers will sort and package fruits, vegetables, perishable and nonperishable items into bags. Afternoon volunteers will then distribute these bags to clients of the food pantry, as well as help register and check-in guests if needed. Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: 7/23 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:45-3 p.m.

AmeriCorps VISTA for Day Laborer Program
Catholic Charities Community Services of Westchester is seeking an individual to fulfill its AmeriCorps VISTA role supporting immigrant-focused programming. The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) VISTA is a full-time paraprofessional who works on capacity-building projects supporting anti-poverty programs and services for our immigrant and day laborer neighbors. This role requires a 12-month commitment and offers a stipend. This is perfect for individuals who have an interest in ending immigrant poverty, developing valuable nonprofit skills and experience, giving back to their community, and supporting an organization working with the immigrant and refugee community. Volunteers must be 18+.

Meals on Wheels of White Plains is recruiting dependable volunteers who can use their own vehicles to help deliver meals, offer a warm greeting, and provide a safety check to clients throughout White Plains. Volunteers may choose to drive and deliver meals to clients' doorsteps on their own or work as a team with one person driving and another carrying the meals. Volunteers must be 21+.
Date: Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
