Rita's Ice in Peekskill Plans Grand Opening in July

With summer right around the corner, local residents should be glad to hear that another option for beating the heat is on its way.

A Rita’s Italian Ice is expected to open soon at 1877 East Main Street in Peekskill, with a grand opening expected sometime in July. Rita’s, which bills itself as the nation’s largest Italian ice chain, has  more than 625 outlets in 20 states.

The shop features Italian ice made with real fruit and served up in more than 65 flavors. The local, which is being operated Joe and Irene DeAngelis, is expected to employ 15 to 20 people.

“We are so excited to introduce Rita’s Italian Ice to the Peekskill community,” said Joe DeAngelis, franchisee. “We plan to celebrate our Grand Opening in July with 50 percent off all treats. Everyone will find their own favorite Rita’s Cool Treat, like mine, our Blendini with Cherry Ice; Vanilla Custard with M&M’s Minis and OREOs.”
