Robbery In Buchanan Leads To School District Lockout

Victims reported a knife-wielding man in a red and white mask.

CORTLANDT, NY — The New York State Police and the Buchanan Police Department are investigating a mid-morning robbery on Bleakley Avenue in the village. It occurred just before 10 a.m. Monday and led to a temporary lockout at several Hendrick Hudson schools.

Police said victims described a dark-skinned man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with a white and red face mask, who held them at knifepoint in a small business office on Bleakley Avenue near Broadway.

One victim reported being tied up by the man.

The man then fled with an unknown amount of cash in a black four-door sedan.

Police searching for the man and the car coordinated with local school officials.
