State Cops in Cortlandt Arrest 2 after Our Lady of Carmel Society Break-in
The Verplanck Italian-American club was burglarized July 16.

CORTLANDT, NY – New York State Police announce the arrest of two Verplanck teens following a careful burglary investigation with help from the public.
On July 18, State Police charged Miguel A. Reyes, 18, of Verplanck, New York, with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony. On Aug. 6, Benjaman W. Knowles, 18, was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree and the violation of Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under 21 years of age.
Police say the two men broke into Our Lady of Carmel Society in Verplanck at 5 a.m. July 16 and stole an undetermined amount of money and several cans of beer from the non-profit Italian American club.

On July 19, Reyes was arraigned in front of the Hon. Justice Daniel McCarthy in the Town of Cortlandt Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. On August 6, 2016, Knowles was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court before Honorable Justice Klein and released on his own recognizance.
