Wrong-Way Crash in Stolen Car
The incident injured two and closed Route 9 Monday evening.
The police chase that ended on Route 9 with a wrong-way driver's head-on collision started when an officer on patrol on Main Street saw a car that had been reported stolen, according to the Peekskill Post.
When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver zoomed down the ramp to Route 9 and headed south in the northbound lanes, Peekskill Chief of Police Eric Johansen told Bryan Fumagalli, editor of the Post.
He smashed head-on into a car going north. The victim, a Dutchess County woman, is at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. He is at Westchester Medical Center with more serious injuries, Johansen said.
