UPDATE: Stranger on the Grounds Causes Peekskill Middle School Lockout
The 18-year-old is now in police custody.
UPDATE: The Peekskill Post reports that the person was 18 and male, that he is charged with trespass and possession of marijuana, and that police are not releasing his name because he is eligible for youthful offender status.
PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill Middle School was briefly put on lockout Thursday morning after someone noticed a person on the school grounds who looked suspicious.
According to district protocol, school officials placed the school in lockout and called police.

District officials said the person ran away when approached by police, who put out an ABP and quickly caught them. Police are investigating why the person was on school grounds.
All students are safe and it is business as usual at PKMS, school officials said.

Coincidentally, lockdown drills were also being conducted today at Hillcrest and Oakside Elementary schools. These were drills and had nothing to do with the middle school situation.
