Victim's Wrist Slashed In Dispute: Peekskill Police
Police were called to the scene at North Division Street early Saturday morning.
PEEKSKILL, NY — A Peekskill resident faces assault and weapons charges after an apparent dispute was followed by an attack. Police said they were called to to the scene of a reported knife attack in the 10 block of North Division Street at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
Police Officer Nolte detained a man matching the description who was walking away from the scene nearby, police said. After a positive identification, 33-year-old Peekskill resident John Rutledge, was arrested.
The victim was transported NY-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital for a serious but non-life-threatening laceration to the wrist area.

The assault may have occurred immediately following a dispute and was not a random slashing. Rutledge charged with Assault 1st degree and Criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, both felonies, and remanded to Westchester County Jail following arraignment. Rutledge was due back in Peekskill city court today.
The weapon was a box cutter, The Journal News reported.
