“The drivers had a great time meeting and talking about their automobiles. The best part about this free public event was that it was a family-friendly way to spend a beautiful fall Sunday in the Hudson Valley,” said Deb Milone, Executive Director of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
The Peekskill Grand Prix was conceived by car enthusiast Richard Pepe, who organizes the Carmel Mission Classic in Carmel, California, held during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car week.
“The Peekskill Vintage Grand Prix first and foremost is a motoring event where car enthusiasts get to enjoy their cars by driving them on our scenic roads along the majestic Hudson and through downtown so that other car enthusiasts, novices and everyday people get to see them. I hope this becomes a signature event in the Hudson Valley,” said Rich Pepe, event organizer.
Before and after the parade of cars, each vehicle was on display for spectators to see the vehicles up close and to meet their owners. A misty rain at the start of the day did not deter drivers or crowds.
Judy Johnson, from Somers, NY, received the Grand Prix trophy. She owns Judy Johnson Real Estate and was driving a 1955 MG TF1500 2-door convertible.
