Wrong-way Thruway Driver Charged with DWI

The Peekskill woman was headed north in the southbound lanes on I-87.

At 6:40 a.m. Jan. 14, State Police responded to a report of a wrong way Mitsubishi Montero traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on I-87 near the Yonkers Toll Barrier.

Troopers with the assistance of a Help Truck quickly pulled the vehicle over before any incidents. They concluded the driver of the vehicle, Clara Rodriguez, 32, of Peekskill, NY, was intoxicated.

Rodriguez was transported and processed at SP Tarrytown, where her blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.17 percent. She was subsequently charged with:

Rodriguez was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Yonkers Court on Feb. 22.
