7th Grader Wins Pelham Middle School Geography Bee
Seventh-grader Miles Maiberger won Pelham Middle School's annual National Geographic Bee.

From Pelham Public Schools: Seventh grader Miles Maiberger won Pelham Middle School’s annual National Geographic Bee with 6th grader Hudson Blackburn and 8th grader Mark Tarazi finishing in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Miles will now take a written test that is given to school winners across New York state, with the top 100 scorers advancing to the state competition in Albany.
“It was pretty exciting,” said Miles, who credited his victory to having a good memory.

Each year, all 6th, 7th and 8th graders participate in the bee in their Social Studies classes the week before Thanksgiving with each class winner then competing for the school crown. In the competition, students are asked questions about different locations around the globe. Sponsored by the National Geographic Society, the experience is designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Each year, thousands of schools across the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee, competing for college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.
