Air Quality Alert Issued for Ozone Levels in Westchester County
Monday marks the third day in a row that an air quality alert has been issued.

The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert until 11 p.m. Monday night for uncomfortable levels of ozone in Westchester County.
Elevated levels of the pollutant ozone - above 100 on the Air Quality Index - can affect the very young, elderly and people with “pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease,” according to the NWS.
AIR QUALITY LEVELS IN OUTDOOR AIR ARE PREDICTED TO BE GREATER THAN AN AIR QUALITY INDEX VALUE OF 100 FOR THE POLLUTANT OF OZONE. THE AIR QUALITY INDEX...OR AQI...WAS CREATED AS AN EASY WAY TO CORRELATE LEVELS OF DIFFERENT POLLUTANTS TO ONE SCALE. THE HIGHER THE AQI VALUE...THE GREATER THE HEALTH CONCERN.
