Bike Choosing Advice from Pelham Bicycle Center

Decide how you want to use the bicycle first.

Summer weather brings out the desire to be outside and what better way is with a bicycle.

But how do you choose the right bike?

According to Pedro Sanchez, the manager of Pelham Bicycle Center at 109 Wolfs Ln. in Pelham, besides coming to a reputable bike shop, you need to ask yourself what kind of riding do you intend to do.

"You can go for a traditional mountain bike with all the gears and suspension," he said. "That would be good for trails and off road."

The second choice is a hybrid that can be ridden on streets or trails and can be a seven-speed model up to 12 speeds.

Sanchez said the advantage to a hybrid is that it has a flat handle bar and narrow tires.

The third choice is the traditional road bike, he said, with a lighter frame.

"That will give you a bicycle you can ride everywhere, even on the bike trails," Sanchez said.

"You can ride all day with this bike," he said, "when you buy the proper size.

The Pelham Bicycle Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
