PELHAM, NY — Initial site preparation work on the Hutchinson School property has begun. Rock blasting is planned to begin Friday.

Blasting is expected to occur multiple times per day throughout the summer, schools Superintendent Cheryl H. Champ reminded residents in a letter.

Standard protocol for these blasts includes a siren sequence beginning 10 minutes before the blast to warn those on the property and in the surrounding neighborhood before and after a blast occurs. The specific timing of blasts will vary on a day-to-day basis.
