COLONIAL GYM — The Colonial School blood drive collected 56 pints on Nov. 3, and that is 168 lives saved.
A pint of whole blood can help three or more different people, according to the New York Blood Center’s “Blood: The Gift of Life.”

Students helped with card making, a canteen for donors before they gave blood and babysitting. Thirty members of the fourth and fifth grades volunteered to help, said Mrs. Wilson, Colonial’s principal.
Donor Dave O’Brien, father of Spencer (5G) and Reed (5U), said it was “not too bad. You just feel a little jab, and you just feel light headed for a second.”

“The best part is that you may have just saved someone's life,” said Mr.O’Brien.
People were seen donating platelets. If you donate platelets, it is a very big deal.
